Privacy policy
Your details, handled like our own.
No cookies, no trackers, no mailing lists — and nothing passed to anyone else. This page sets out, in plain English, what this website collects, why, and what your rights are under UK data protection law.

The short version
Four things worth knowing before the long version
Only what you type
The only personal information this site collects is what you enter into our enquiry forms. No tracking pixels, no analytics, no profiling.
Used once, for you
We use your details to answer the enquiry you sent — a reply, a valuation, a viewing. Nothing else, and no follow-up marketing.
Never sold or shared
Your details are not sold, rented, swapped or added to marketing lists — ours or anyone else’s. They stay on Hoe Street.
No cookies at all
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Close the tab and it forgets you were here — which is why there’s no banner.
The long version
The full policy, without the legalese
Who we are
Hartwell & Grange Ltd runs this website and is the “data controller” for anything you send through it — the firm responsible, in the law’s eyes, for looking after it. We’re registered in England & Wales (company no. 07682114) with our registered office at 214 Hoe Street, London E17 4QS. For anything in this policy, email hello@hartwellandgrange.co.uk or call 020 7946 0517 and ask for Sarah Grange.
What we collect, and why
The enquiry, valuation and appraisal forms on this site ask for: your name, your email address, a phone number if you choose to give one, the property postcode where relevant, what your enquiry is about, and your message. That’s the lot — there are no accounts to create, nothing to pay for, and no hidden fields.
We use those details to do exactly what you asked us to do: reply to your message, book the valuation or appraisal, or arrange a viewing. If you contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email instead, we look after what you send us in the same way.
Our lawful basis
UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for holding personal information. Ours is legitimate interests: you’ve asked about our services and we need your contact details to answer. If you go on to instruct us, we hold what’s needed to perform that contract; and once a sale or letting proceeds, certain checks — anti-money-laundering identity checks, Right to Rent checks — are a legal obligation.
How long we keep it
If your enquiry goes no further, we delete it within twelve months. If you become a client, we keep your file for six years after it closes — the period tax and legal rules expect — and then delete it. Ask us to delete your details sooner and, unless the law says we must keep them, we will.
Who we share it with
Nobody, is the short answer. Your details are never sold, rented or passed to third parties for marketing. Information only leaves us when a transaction genuinely needs it — your solicitor, a referencing provider or a deposit protection scheme on a letting, and you’ll know at the time — or where the law requires it. Our email and files sit with reputable providers who process them on our instructions only.
Cookies, localStorage and this website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and stores nothing in your browser’s localStorage — there is nothing to consent to, which is why there is no banner. One technical note for completeness: our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser requests those font files from Google’s servers. That request shares your IP address with Google in the ordinary way any web request does; we send nothing else.
Your rights
UK data protection law gives you the right to:
- Access — a copy of everything we hold about you
- Rectification — corrections when something’s wrong
- Erasure — deletion, where the law doesn’t require us to keep it
- Restriction and objection — limits on what we do with it
- Portability — your details in a usable format to take elsewhere
Email hello@hartwellandgrange.co.uk with any of these. We reply within one month and never charge.
If something’s wrong
Tell us first — we’d rather fix it across the desk than have you fill in forms. If you’re not happy with our answer, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Questions about your data?
Ask the people whose names are on the door.
No data-protection call centre, no ticket numbers. Email or ring the office and the person who answers can actually help.
