Our team

The people behind the calm

Three dentists, one hygienist, and the practice manager who actually runs the place. One rule binds all of them: explain everything, in plain English, before it happens. You’ll see the same dentist at every visit, so they know your history – and your coffee order.

Meet the team

Dr Amara Osei

Principal dentist · Implants

Implant surgeryRestorative dentistry

BDS King’s College London, 2009. Amara founded Pearl Lane after ten years in Harley Street practices, convinced dentistry could be kinder and clearer. She rang twenty local clinics asking the price of a filling, got one straight answer, and decided to open the practice that gives twenty. She places every implant here herself, and plans each one on a 3D CT scan before anyone reclines a chair.

“If I can’t explain a treatment to you in two minutes without jargon, I don’t understand it well enough to do it.”

Dr James Whitfield

Sedation · Nervous patients

Conscious sedationAnxiety management

BDS Bristol, 2013, with a postgraduate diploma in conscious sedation. James leads our nervous-patient pathway and does every IV sedation assessment personally. He was a nervous patient himself as a teenager – the reason, he says, he became this kind of dentist. Patients describe him as “the first dentist who ever listened”, which he considers both a compliment and an indictment of the profession.

“Nobody is ‘bad with the dentist’. They’ve just never been given control before.”

Dr Priya Nair

Family dentistry · Aligners

Children’s dentistryClear aligners

BDS Manchester, 2016. Priya looks after our families – she’ll happily do a toddler’s first “chair ride” with the buttons, and has an uncanny record of getting reluctant seven-year-olds to open wide by asking about their pets. She also runs the invisible-braces clinic, including the Saturday sessions, and did her own aligner treatment in 2022 so she could describe every stage first-hand.

“My job with children is simple: make sure they never need a nervous-patients page.”

Elena Kowalska

Dental hygienist

Gum healthAirflow stain removal

Dip Dental Hygiene, Eastman Dental Institute, 2015. Elena is the reason our hygiene visits get requested by name. She numbs before scaling if you’re sensitive – before, not after you flinch – and explains gum health with the patience of someone who genuinely finds it interesting. Famous in the practice for her allotment, which has talked more than one anxious patient through a filling next door.

“Bleeding gums aren’t ‘normal for you’. Give me three visits and I’ll prove it.”

Maria Delgado

Practice manager

First contactPearl Plan & finance

Maria has managed dental practices for fifteen years and joined Pearl Lane on day one. She reads every appointment request personally, replies within a working day, and is the person who’ll gently suggest the Pearl Plan when it saves you money – and tell you to skip it when it doesn’t. If you ring us, it’s Maria or Josh who answers; between them they’ve heard everything and judged none of it.

“People apologise to me for their teeth on the phone. You never need to. Just come in.”

How we work

Three habits we refuse to break

Same dentist, every visit

You’re not a slot in a rota. Your dentist knows your history, your worries and your preferences, so nothing needs re-explaining and nothing gets missed between visits.

Explain everything, first

What we found, what it means, what the options cost – on the ceiling screen, in plain English, before anything is agreed. Mystery diagnoses breed dread; we don’t do them.

No lectures, ever

Whatever the state of things, you’ll hear “welcome back” and a plan – never a sigh. People who feel judged stop coming; people who feel welcome keep their teeth.

The clinic

Modern where it matters, homely where it counts

Two treatment rooms above the bakery on Pearl Lane. It smells of sourdough, not surgery – and the technology hides quietly behind armchairs, plants and proper tea.

A bright, tidy treatment room: a reclined chair, clear worktops and soft daylight.
A treatment room kept deliberately tidy – it stays calmer that way
A pale sofa with soft green cushions and a leafy plant by the window.
The waiting room that isn’t one: armchairs, plants, proper tea

The technology

  • Digital X-raysAround 80% less radiation than film, on screen in seconds.
  • Intraoral cameraYou see exactly what we see, on the ceiling screen – no mystery diagnoses.
  • Digital 3D scannerGoodbye gag-inducing putty moulds. A wand scans your teeth in minutes.
  • 3D CT imagingFor implant planning – we see bone in three dimensions before anything happens.

The comfort

  • Ceiling screensWatch a nature documentary or your own Netflix while we work.
  • A waiting room that isn’t oneArmchairs, plants, proper tea and this month’s magazines – not last year’s.
  • Step-free accessLevel entrance, ground-floor treatment room and an accessible WC.
  • Running-late textsIf we’re behind schedule, you’ll know before you leave the house.
Come and meet us

The best introduction is a cup of tea downstairs

Book a check-up, or – if you’d rather ease in – a free 15-minute hello visit with no chair involved. Either way, you’ll meet the person who’ll look after your teeth for years, not a rotating cast.

Want a specific dentist? Say so on the form – we’ll always match you where we can.
