The owner is the boss
Queuely never sends, charges or promises anything you haven’t set a rule for. Automation with a leash – you can see every rule and change any of them.
That sentence is on the wall of our office in Shoreditch, because it’s the reason the company exists. Queuely is built by fourteen people in London for the millions of appointments the UK’s salons, clinics and studios take every week.
Nadia El-Amin grew up sweeping floors in her mum’s salon in Leicester. The busier the salon got, the more the phone rang – and the more it rang, the more it got ignored, because her mum’s hands were full of foils. Years later, helping with the books, Nadia finally put a number on it: the salon was losing more to missed calls and no-shows than it spent on rent.
She took that number to Jack Whitfield, a friend from university who’d spent six years building payments infrastructure at a fintech. His first reaction became our product spec: “this is a queueing problem, and queueing problems are solvable.”
The first version of Queuely ran for exactly one salon: Nadia’s mum’s. Her no-shows fell 80% in a month.
Word travelled the way it does in this industry – chair to chair, group chat to group chat. The barber two doors down asked for it, then a nail studio in Nottingham, then a physio in Bristol who’d heard about it at a wedding. We incorporated in 2024, moved into a small office in Shoreditch, and have been shipping ever since.
We’re now a team of fourteen. More than half of us have worked front-of-house somewhere – salons, clinics, a tattoo studio, one veterinary receptionist – and it shows in the product. We build the boring, reliable thing that actually helps on a wet Tuesday, not the flashy thing that demos well.
Written down early, argued about often, and used to settle every product decision since.

The best front desk is the one you forget is running. No dashboards demanding attention, no streaks, no confetti – a fuller diary and a phone that doesn’t ring.
Q drafts; humans decide. Anything touching health, money or a complaint always waits for a person. We’d rather be slower and trusted than clever and sorry.
Three plans in plain GBP, a cap you set on SMS spend, and your data exportable on every plan including free. If you leave, we help you pack.
Half the company has stood behind a reception desk. It’s practically a hiring requirement.
Salon kid turned operator. Still does a support shift every Friday, and can quote the no-show stats of most UK cities from memory.
Six years of payments infrastructure before this. Believes reminders should be as reliable as direct debits, and has built them that way.
Ran bookings for a five-site clinic group before joining. Every feature ships only after she’s watched three real owners use it without help.
Leads the London support team that answers within the hour. Former barbershop manager; allergic to the phrase “have you tried logging out?”.
Designs for wet hands, gloved hands and thirty-second gaps between clients. If a screen needs a manual, she redesigns the screen.
Teaches Q to sound like you rather than like a robot. Spends his days reading anonymised salon small talk; his tone models are the politest in London.
We’re small, profitable-ish and picky. You’ll ship things real businesses feel the same week, and you’ll spend your first fortnight doing support – everyone does. Hybrid, with Tuesdays and Thursdays together in Shoreditch.
